We are a community of Christians in the historic second ward of Houston, seeking to share the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Our vision is to reach Houston for Christ, who transforms lives by His grace.
Our corporate worship is bi-lingual (English and Spanish).
We don't have to look very far to see that we are broken people living in a broken world. We gather together bearing witness to the truth that in Jesus Christ, God is making all things new. Our desire is that many people would hear the gospel of Jesus Christ and come to know and love Him.
God is at work in our lives, drawing us into deeper relationships, and changing us so that we may know Jesus and become like Him. A changed life is the gift of God, accomplished by His grace at work in our lives.
A disciple of Jesus Christ grows through worshipping God with His people, time in the Word of God, prayer, service, and fellowship.
We embrace the historic Christian faith as it is revealed in the Holy Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments. Together with Christians throughout the ages we affirm the following foundational truths:
The Bible is God's Word, completely trustworthy and without error. It is the ultimate authority for all that we believe and practice in life.
The Bible teaches that one real and personal God exists eternally in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
The Bible teaches that human beings are created uniquely in the image of God to enjoy and honor Him forever. The human race is fallen in sin under the curse of God and is estranged from Him. Left to ourselves, we cannot fulfill the blessed purpose for which we were created, but instead will perish forever.
God the Son took on human flesh in the person of Jesus Christ. He lived a sinless life, obeying God's law perfectly, suffered and died on the cross of Calvary, and then was physically raised on the third day. He did all this to accomplish the salvation of His people.
Salvation is received by faith alone in Jesus Christ alone, not by good works (though good works are evidence of a true believer).
The Church is the people of God from all ages, saved by the blood of Jesus Christ, the head of the church, also called "the body of Christ." Christians join together in local churches to worship the Lord, to grow in His likeness, and to enjoy serving Him together.
These and other truths are affirmed in various statements of faith from the early church, such as the Apostles' Creed and Nicene Creed. We also stand within the rich tradition of the Reformation of the sixteenth century which is anchored in the gospel of grace. The Westminster Confession of Faith is a beautiful expression of the central teachings of the Bible and serves as our doctrinal standard.
